Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC) is both the entry point and the backbone of the entire system. Government infrastructure, like Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, is expanding coverage but shortages of trained staff, limited diagnostics, and fragmented continuity of care are still holding back real impact, especially in rural, tribal, and urban slum settings.
Strengthening CPHC is how the Tata Trusts can build and prove primary care models that government and other partners can adopt directly.
Extending the CPHC model into underserved city settlements, recognising that urban poverty carries its own, fast-growing health burden that rural-designed systems were not built to address.
