Ideas become opportunities when they connect with enterprise. As India's economy evolves, businesses need ecosystems that can transform innovation into opportunity and connect people with productive livelihoods.
The Tata Trusts partner with industry associations and incubator-accelerators that bring together entrepreneurs, businesses, academia and other stakeholders. These organisations bridge the gap between industry and employment while helping promising ideas move towards practical applications.
Through long-term institutional investment, the Trusts help build institutions that enable enterprise growth and productive livelihoods.
The Tata Trusts have been a longstanding collaborator of the University of Toronto, supporting researchers working on healthcare, water, energy and poverty challenges. In 2023, the University of Toronto India Foundation (UTIF) in Mumbai was established with the support of the Tata Trusts. UTIF works on India-led priorities alongside Indian partners, drawing on the University of Toronto's research network and interdisciplinary urban expertise.
In December 2021, Social Alpha, an initiative supported by the Tata Trusts, launched mach33.aero with the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) and CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories. India's first public-private partnership focused on accelerating aerospace innovation, it nurtures start-ups in aerospace and allied engineering from a dedicated centre on the CSIR-NAL campus in Bengaluru, spanning aviation, defence, space exploration and climate action.
