Enhancing Teacher Education

Teacher education is at the heart of educational practice in schools and classrooms. It is, therefore, essential to establish and build institutions that possess the necessary expertise and a deep commitment to preparing teachers to address emerging educational challenges.

  • Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Tata Trusts supported initiatives focused on experiential learning, holistic assessment approaches, and strengthening teacher education ecosystems.
  • All education grants from ECE to secondary education enhance teacher capacity in understanding children, subject knowledge, meaningful use of teaching and learning material, adoption of learner-centred pedagogy and integration of education technology.
  • The Trusts helped establish the Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE) at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) to equip teachers with the skills necessary to make classrooms inclusive for diverse learners.
